RadSite™, a leading accreditation organization promoting quality-based imaging practices, continues to add to a fast-growing customer base with new recognition from three leading healthcare organizations in Puerto Rico. With Triple SSS (also known as Blue Cross Blue Shield of Puerto Rico), Medical Card System, and First Medical Health Plan serving more than 106 million covered lives, RadSite is positioned to sell accreditation services on the island of Puerto Rico, home to more than 150 imaging centers, including hospitals.

“Public and private payers everywhere are increasingly focused on value and creating a ‘smart’ imaging network for better clinical and financial outcomes. As a result, they are adding RadSite recognition as part of their strategy” states Eliot Siegel, MD, Chief Technology Officer for RadSite.

According to Janette Melendez, Sales Consultant, in Puerto Rico, “RadSite has gained the reputation of accrediting imaging provider systems in a fair, accurate and reasonable manner. The accreditation process should not be a heavy burden for imaging providers. RadSite accreditation reviewers focus on improving quality through an educational approach. Imaging providers who earn the RadSite accreditation seal are demonstrating their commitment to meet the highest standards for advanced diagnostic imaging.”

Over the past six months, RadSite has received over 300 recognitions from private payers and radiology benefit management organizations nationwide. Expansion is due, in part, to RadSite becoming a recognized accreditation organization by the U.S. Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS). All imaging providers offering advanced diagnostic imaging services which include CT, MRI, PET and SPECT and bill for the technical component under the physician fee schedule, must become accredited by a CMS-recognized organization for claims reimbursement eligibility under the Medicare Improvement for Patients and Providers Act of 2008 (MIPPA).

While RadSite is the most cost-effective and simple to use accreditation program in Advanced Diagnostic Imaging (ADI), the company is also gaining attention for leadership. According to Jonathan Ramirez, Director of Sales for RadSite, “Our role promoting quality improvement in imaging is being noticed – specifically, our work to incorporate process enhancements, operational efficiencies, and provider education into our accreditation offerings.”

An increasing number of health plans, insurers and radiology benefit management organizations are also recognizing RadSite’s MIPPA Accreditation Program (MAP) Standards following the decision by Aetna and Humana to add RadSite to their list of ‘deemed’ accreditation organizations for participating imaging providers offering CT, MRI and PET and SPECT scans. It also reflects a move by some payers to no longer reimburse claims and/or remove non-accredited providers from their networks.

More recently, payers who have recognized RadSite include:

  • UnitedHealthcare
  • Oxford Health
  • Molina Health Care
  • eviCore
  • Cigna

In a field known for constant innovation, RadSite is committed to helping identify and promote best practices through work with manufacturers and other stakeholders.

RadSite offers a comprehensive, affordable, quality-based accreditation program that evaluates providers on established industry standards and best-practices. Working with health plans and their participating providers also helps raise imaging standards through a meaningful accreditation process, education, reasonable pricing and a quality seal. And, recognition from RadSite demonstrates to patients, payers, regulators and others that a facility is a clear leader in imaging quality and patient safety.

Beyond each facility accreditation, RadSite is engaged in assessing, tracking and reporting on imaging trends to enhance imaging procedures and outcomes. RadSite also offers educational programs, publishes issue briefs and underwrites research to promote best practices and patient safety.
