Annapolis, MD / PR Web /April 21, 2017 — RadSite™, a leading accreditation organization promoting quality-based imaging practices, is seeking candidates to serve on its Accreditation and Standards Committees to support the organization’s quality benchmarking activities for diagnostic imaging.

“RadSite’s ultimate mission is improving image quality and reducing patient radiation dose,” reports Eliot Siegel, MD, RadSite’s chief technology officer, Accreditation Committee chair and a member of the Advisory Board. “Peer review by qualified third-party representatives enhances RadSite’s standards, accreditation process, and research activities. Previous volunteers have explained the value of serving on a RadSite committee — especially their role in advancing imaging standards and patient safety industry-wide. “As a member of the Accreditation Committee, it has been gratifying to use my experience and knowledge of imaging to help facilities that perform radiological procedures to improve their quality,” states cardiovascular imager Mark D. Hiatt, MD, MBA, MS who is also the Executive Medical Director of Regence BlueCross BlueShield of Utah. Dr. Hiatt served as Vice-Chair of the Standards Committee.

For another committee member, Debra Honey, MHA, RN, CENP, FACHE, CPHQ, the impact of serving has been enormously satisfying. “As a member of the RadSite Accreditation Committee, I am honored to be part of this important work, ensuring that patients in communities across the nation have high quality and safe imaging.”

To meet the RadSite mission, the organization seeks input from a wide range of stakeholders to critique and monitor the programs. Volunteers from a variety of backgrounds are sought including imaging providers, health care professionals, consumer representatives, business experts, employer representatives, association executives and government officials to serve on two committees:

  • Standards Committee, which helps develop new quality and performance programs, along with revisions to the existing standards, based on emerging best practices and new regulatory requirements.
  • The Accreditation Committee which oversees RadSite’s accreditation activities for imaging facilities and systems.
